But...why Christ now...! Will tell you...A few years before...in 2009, I happened to witness an attempt-unusual at Marine Drive, Kochi, atop the bridge, which resembles Chinese fishing nets...I went there to walk down the memories of my teens...of breezy evenings, which I had enjoyed with my friends...and I still enjoy going there, whenever I am at Kochi.. although I am too old to be there...!!!
Now...attempt-unusual??...Christ?...Yea...will tell you in detail...A young man was trying to capture the crucifixion of Christ...with just charcoal and chalks! The floor of the bridge was his canvas... Having seen the half-drawn picture by peeping through the crowd, I was about to walk down...along with the breeze...but...before that, I wanted to see who the painter is...
I peeped in again...and I found a young man... in perfect bowed down posture...on his knees... drawing the picture...and I noticed the sighs of surprise in all faces...I looked at him again...closely...to find that the young man was drawing the picture with his wrists!...Not hands...He had no hands... he was drawing the picture by keeping charcoal between his wrists...
I came to know from one of the spectators that he had lost his hands in an accident...in his childhood...He travels from place to place to draw pictures at public places to earn his bread and butter...I clicked a few snaps of him with my camera...my heart too captured a few snaps...which made my mind disturbed...for many years...Since then, the young man started walking into my mind whenever I passes through Marin Drive...
Year later...I found the young man...hung from the cross...bleeding from his wounds... crucifixion...last week in my dream!!!
Today...after hours of search...I could find the pictures I captured in 2009...of the young man drawing...crucifixion of Christ...from my back up digital files...
The picture drawn by the young man doesn’t have the fineness of Velazquez’s ‘Christ Crucified’ or the cosmic depth of the Salvador Dali’s ‘Christ of Saint John on the Cross’...Yet... I couldn’t stop me from sharing it with you all...
